Deevana Plaza Phuket Patong

Hi travel lovers! 🙂 As you could see by our our Instagram, we have been exploring Thailand lately. Our main destinations were Bangkok and Phuket. We were so happy with staying at Deevana Plaza resort in Patong. We could immediately see why it has so many excellent reviews as it looks like a tropical heaven.

Our flight from Bangkok to Phuket was a little rough, but we were welcomed at the Deevana in such a nice way that we forgot all about it in a matter of minutes. Our bags were immediately taken care of and we were handed a warm towel and a drink upon our arrival, what else could you want right :)?

We had a room with a pool view, which was amazing. We loved waking up, drinking coffee (there is a coffee machine in the room)  and watching the pool, which was totally amazing, by the way one of the most beautiful pools we have seen in Patong – and we have seen many. There is also a bar in the pool, so you can have a cocktail or two while cooling in the pool, since it is really hot in Phuket.

We loved our room, it was clean, comfortable and cosy and had everything that you would need. We especially loved the bathroom (it had a big bath and a shower) and the  detail on a window was a nice touch – glass connecting bathroom and the bedroom. The balcony with a gorgeous pool view was one of our favourite parts. There is free wi-fi all over the hotel, that is working really well.

There are two bars in the hotel, one is right by the pool and the other one is by the reception There is also a restaurant, where they serve breakfast, which was amazing. There were so many choices to pick from, we could barely decide.

There is an amazing Spa in the hotel (Orientala Wellness spa), where you can choose from many different packages and treatments – steam, bath, Thai, aroma, foot, body scrub, body wraps and facials. We tried the Thai and hot stones massage which was amazing. We felt totally relaxed after and would totally recommend it to anyone visiting Patong – you have to try the Thai massage when you are in Thailand, right? 🙂 There is many massage places in Patong, but they are mostly crowded. The best bart about this spa was that we could actually relax and enjoy our massage in peace.

There is also a big gym with an amazing selection of fitness equipment and a gorgeous view over Patong. It is easily one of the biggest gyms we have seen in a hotel.

The location of the hotel was amazing, a few minutes of walking from the beach and from the famous Bangla road so you don’t have to worry about the tuk-tuk or the taxi drivers ripping you off 🙂 There is a grocery store right in front of the hotel and many restaurants you can choose from in the vicinity.

The staff was friendly and were willing to assist with everything we needed. We strongly recommend this hotel to anyone that visits Patong as it has everything you need when you are on vacations – amazing pool, great food, relaxing atmosphere and a great location 🙂

Weekend Getaway at Bachmair Weissach

We visit Germany quite often, but we usually go to Munich or Berlin. This time we decided to explore one of the most beautiful regions in Germany and visit the beautiful Rottach-Egern, which is next to the famous Lake Tegernsee.

It is close to Munich and we heard that many Munich residents go there during the weekend to relax in beautiful surroundings. The beauty of the lake and the majestic Alpine landscape make Tegernsee a year-round destination. The scenery is truly gorgeous as the surrounding mountains and the lake are breathtaking.

There are many activities available in the area – mountain hiking, skiinig, sleding, paragliding, touring the region’s many castles and palaces, experiencing the traditional forest festivals, riding, sailing, jogging, golf, tennis, mountain biking and skiing to name but a few. So we were excited for an active weekend.

Amongst other activities, our plan was to take a lift to a nearby mountain, that is the 5650-ft high Walberg.  Unfortunately the weather was not the best, but thankfully we were staying at the amazing Bachmair Weissach hotel, which has every amenity you could imagine. From an amazing luxury spa with outdoor and indoor pool, fitness, pool and ping pong tables, 2 restaurants, a bar, fireside lounge…we weren’t bored for a second 🙂

As you can see the decor is luxurious and cosy, but still very modern. Every piece of furniture has been custom-made exclusively for the hotel and every detail has been carefully thought out.

Our room was spectacular, we had a separate living and sleeping area, walk-in wardrobe and a big bathroom and a kitchenette, but one of our favourite parts was a huge balcony with gorgeous views over the surrounding mountainside, with a river rushing under our terrace – we felt like we were in a fairytale 🙂 The stream is actually a part of the spa, so you can get your feet wet on warmer days.

The wardrobe had bathrobes and matching flip flops and also a bag with towels witch was really handy since we went to the spa both days.

One of our favourite parts of the hotel was the pool and the luxurious 1000m2 Bachmair Spa, which includes a Finnish sauna, heated indoor pool, steam room, tepidarium, ice grotto, Alpine hay bath and an oriental steam bath. The spa is spectacular, but they are actually opening a new, even bigger spa in the summer, which should be amazing.

With such good restaurants in the hotel, we were pretty sure that breakfast is going to  be amazing too – and we were not disappointed. The buffet was amazing – We could choose from every possible breakfast dish you could think of.

We were especially impressed with the selection of non-dairy milk, as there was a selection of 6 different ones you could choose from, which was definitely a nice surprise. We really loved the green smoothies as well as a large selection of teas we could choose from.

Wi-fi is complimentary for all guests and it works excellent, but we truly recommend you try to stay away from working and try to relax 🙂 Have a glass of wine at the bar, visit a spa or go for a walk in the nature…this hotel is perfect for a long weekend getaway.

The hotel is also very family-friendly, so we recommend you take the kids with you. It has a huge playroom area, with qualified staff that looks after the children, there is a separate kids pool in the spa area. In the huge, 2.700 sqm space of the Bachmair Weissach Arena the kids can enjoy some real action, with the huge inflatable crocodile, trampoline, badminton, basketball, play parkour and much more. On the weekends and during the Bavarian holidays they offer extended, fun activities for kids. They also offer child care free of charge – how amazing is that?

One of our favourite thing about the hotel is the attention to detail, that you can spot throughout the architecture, interior design & service. That is one of the things that really makes staying at the hotel an outstanding luxurious experience. The staff of the hotel definitely added to the amazing experience as they were super nice and helpful.

The vibe of the hotel is really relaxing and peaceful, but at the same time the hotel has lots of life – the bar and the restaurants were full in the evening, there was live music playing, people were friendly, cheerful and having fun.

We had such an amazing and relaxing weekend and we truly recommend Bachmair Weissach to anyone that would like to unwind and be treated like royalty.

Europe’s Top 5 Luxury Shopping Destinations

If you love to shop, Milan is one of the world’s great fashion centers, and offers experiences and goods for every taste, from Corso Buenos Aires, which has a higher ratio of stores per square foot than anywhere else in Europe, to the edgy street style of Corso di Porta Ticinese and upscale Via Montenapoleone, where there’s no limit on what you can spend. Milan is home to global fashion giants such as Armani, Prada, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Ermenegildo Zegna; behind them stands a host of less famous designers who help fill all those fabulous shops.

Paris’s legendary shopping destinations draw people from the world over—The Champs-Élysées and Rue St-Honoré are the ultimate shopaholic high—but perhaps a deeper allure lies in lesser-known attractions: the city harbors scores of hidden neighborhoods and shopping streets—some well traveled, others just emerging. Each has a distinct style that reflects the character of the particular quarter. At the outer edge of the Marais, Rue Oberkampf is well known among youthful fashionistas for its eclectic atmosphere and bohemian flavor. High-end jewelry and of-the-minute boutiques are clustered amid stylish wine bars and comfy cafés. Just around the corner from teeming Les Halles, Rues Étienne Marcel, du Jour, du Louvre, and Montmartre are jam-packed with big names (like Yohji Yamamoto and Agnès b), but it also boasts a multitude of smaller boutiques (such as Shine) that are popular with hip young Parisians. For more ideas, read Best Shopping in Paris.

Globalization has made most goods available in Venice and items like Venetian glass widely available in major cities throughout the world. While the selection of Italian and Venetian made goods may be a bit better in Venice than at home, the prices may actually be lower in the United States, especially considering that U.S. retailers discount sale goods quite radically. Venetian antiques, especially antique Venetian glass, is almost invariably cheaper in other places, because Venetians are ready to pay high prices for their own heritage. So, before your trip, check the prices at home on what you may wish to buy abroad before you leave. Alluring shops abound in Venice. You’ll find countless vendors of trademark Venetian wares such as glass and lace. The authenticity of some goods can be suspect, but they’re often pleasing to the eye regardless of their place of origin. There are also some interesting craft and art studios, where you can find high-quality, one-of-a-kind articles, but Venice is a design center only for glass, lace, and high-end textiles. You will probably find a better choice of leather, clothing, and furnishings in other Italian cities.

There is something about St-Tropez that makes shopping simply irresistible—unlike Cannes, you’ll be welcomed into the stores no matter what you look like or what you’re wearing. Rue Sibilli, behind Quai Suffren, is lined with all kinds of trendy boutiques, many carrying those all-important sunglasses. Tuck in behind here to Place de la Garonne for some extra-hip purchases.

Whether you’re window-shopping or splurging on that little Raf Simons number in the Dior window, you’ll find some of the best shopping outside Paris on the streets off La Croisette. For stores carrying designer names, try Rond-point Duboys-d’Angers off Rue Amouretti, Rue des Serbes, and Rue des Belges, all perpendicular to the waterfront. Rue d’Antibes is the town’s main shopping drag, home base to every kind of clothing and shoe shop, as well as mouthwatering candy, fabric, and home design stores. Rue Meynadier mixes trendy young clothes with high-end food specialties.

Nice’s main shopping street, Avenue Jean-Médecin, runs inland from Place Masséna; all needs and most tastes are catered to in its big department stores (Galeries Lafayette, Monoprix, and the split-level Étoile mall). The tramway, launched in late 2007, has made this mini–Champs-Elysées all the more accessible, so expect crowds on Saturday (the majority of shops are still closed on Sunday). Luxury boutiques, such as Emporio Armani, Kenzo, Chanel, and Sonia Rykiel, line Rue du Paradis, while Rue de France and the Old Town have more affordable offerings.

London shopping trips incorporate everything from the world’s most exclusive designer stores – think the boutiques of Mayfair – to grabbing a bargain in a market stall on Brick Lane. For a global shopping break, London offers the best shops all in one city.

No shopping experience in London would be complete without a visit to Oxford Street, which has been London’s most famous shopping thoroughfare for over a century. It’s lined with flagship branches of major British brands, like Topshop, Marks and Spencers and Selfridges, and its Christmas lights are a major festive attraction in London.

header_harrods2013Nearby, Regent Street and Bond Strefeature exclusive designer stores, as well as Liberty, an iconic London department store founded in 1875. Nearby, the shops of Carnaby Street offer a string of boutique shops in an area that’s synonymous with the Swinging Sixties and iconic British fashion.

For upmarket shopping in chic surroundings, head to Knightsbridge, home to Harrods, Europe’s biggest department store. This enormous shopping landmark occupies over five acres of space with its many departments and opulent décor, offering the perfect shopping excursion all under one roof.

Which is your favourite shopping destination?

Villa Serbelloni

Nestled in the heart of the Lake Como area is what is regarded as one of the most luxurious hotels in Italy.

It is located right by the lake, so most of the rooms have a breathtaking view of the lake and the mountains.  There are four different room types in the hotel. Of course, all of them boast their own uniqueness, both in terms of style and overall comfort (although all rooms are ridiculously comfortable). They do, however, all have similar ‘features’. This includes televisions, telephone, WiFi, private bathrooms, bath tubs, shower, minibar etc. Basically, anything that you could expect from a hotel where the focus is on comfort.

In terms of amenities, there are plenty for hotel guests to enjoy. You will have accesses to a steam bath, sauna, gym, garages, private beach facilities, swimming pools and a whole lot more. Again, these have all been designed to ensure that you enjoy your vacation. Since this is a small hotel, having a little over 90 rooms, these amenities boast a great deal of privacy too. You can really kick back and relax with them. This is very rare for hotels in the region. The smaller hotels tend not to have a plethora of amenities, and the larger hotels have a lot of overcrowding. Villa Serbelloni seems to have managed to get things right.

Italian cuisine is known to be among the best in the world. Thankfully, you are not going to have to venture far to sink your teeth into some of the best that Italy has to offer.

There are two restaurants at the hotel, both of which offer slightly different dishes. Having tried out both of them, they are impeccable. Not the cheapest places around, but worth each and every penny that you spend on them. They will make the perfect location for a romantic date, or maybe perfect to have a great meal with your family!

In terms of what it is like saying at the Villa Serbelloni, then you can expect high levels of comfort. There is a concierge service at the disposal of all guests. We truly felt like royalty the whole time we were there:)

They are very knowledgeable about the area too! If you have a question, they will be more than happy to point you in the right direction. They will even be able to book things for you. It does take a lot of stress away from the whole vacation! Every question we ever had (and we never had a complaint about the hotel) was answered with a great deal of professionalism.

The staff put a lot of effort into ensuring that this hotel remains looking fabulous. It is one of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in, and the grandiose décor is something to behold. We seriously doubt that anybody who stays here will be disappointed with their trip.

In summary; if you are looking for a gorgeous hotel to visit where you can just kick back and relax, you are going to be hard-pressed to find any hotel better than the Villa Serbelloni. Just make sure you book early, this is a hotel which seems to fill up rather quickly!

Valamar Isabella Resort

Valamar Isabella island resort is  one of our favorite places to stay while in Poreč, Croatia. The resort is located on the island Sveti Nikola, which can be easily accessible by a cute little boat. The island is pretty small (you can get around the whole island in about 25 minutes by foot) but that is what makes it special in our opinion.

This resort is perfect for anyone who is trying to relax and enjoy your time on holidays away from all the traffic and the crowds tourists. The island resort is surrounded with the Mediterranean greenery and the pine forest. you can choose between a sandy and a rocky beach, there are also two swimming pools. The view of the ocean is spectacular from any part of the island, you can also see the city of Poreč from one side of the island.

You can stay at the Valamar Isabella hotel****, Valamar isabella Miramare***** or Valamar Isabella castle. All of the above are super luxorious and you can expect an amazing experience staying and any of the above hotels. Our favorite is the Miramare, the one in the photo below.

Feel like royalty in Valamar Isabella castle 🙂
